If you've started reading ingredient labels, you've probably noticed seed oils almost everywhere: canola, sunflower, soybean, and the rest. At COZY, we leave them out entirely. Here's what they are and why we made that choice.
What seed oils actually are
Seed oils are refined oils extracted from seeds like canola, soybean, and sunflower. They're inexpensive and shelf-stable, which is exactly why they show up in so many packaged snacks. The trouble is that cheap and shelf-stable usually comes at the expense of simple and fresh, and that tradeoff is one we're not willing to make.
What we use instead
Rather than reaching for a refined oil, we build our bars on grass-fed butter. It gives COZY bars their rich, satisfying texture without any of the industrial processing seed oils go through. It's a real, recognizable ingredient, the kind you'd keep in your own kitchen.
Reading labels with confidence
The easiest way to spot seed oils is to flip the package over and read the ingredient list. If you see a long list of refined oils and additives, that tells you a lot about how the food was made. A COZY label is short on purpose: organic dates, oats, coconut, grass-fed butter, and real flavor.
Snack simpler
Skipping seed oils is part of how we keep COZY genuinely real food. Taste the difference for yourself with Warm Cinnamon or Salted Matcha, both made without a drop of seed oil.
